Emico Technologies Inc. was established in Barrie, Ontario, Canada in 1996 as a spin-off of a Volkswagen Canada plant, which had existed in Barrie for approximately 15 years. One group of products manufactured at this VW plant was a family of automotive catalytic converters for O.E. and aftermarket applications. Emico purchased from VW Canada all the production equipment, tooling, Q.A. gauges and the parts and materials inventory to continue production of these catalytic converters.The guiding principle of the company is "Catalytic converters for clean air". We design, test and build our converters to extremely high standards, to ensure top performance and outstanding durability.
Our manufacturing system is a modern catalytic converter assembly line equipped with automatic welding machines, employing robotics and other types of automation. The line uses dedicated tooling for particular models, rigorously controlled process parameters and well-trained people to ensure the consistent quality of our products. This approach applies to all the products we manufacture.
We supply our catalytic converters to Volkswagen of America and Volkswagen of Canada and to the open market in the US, Canada, Mexico and several European countries.
Other parts and products we make are destined to Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers to OEM's or to commercial product manufacturers.

We utilize the tourniquet technique in the design of our catalytic converters. This technique is a best in the industry design and is proven in millions of cars in North America and Europe. Moreover, we use only the highest quality materials to make the components of our catalytic converters.
Our manufacturing process was established and refined through several years of continuous improvement which have resulted in high consistency and reliability. All of our products are inspected in a leak tester, ensuring that they do not leak untreated exhaust gases to the air we breathe and that they operate quietly.
